Here at Axe Play, every throw tells a story — but some stand out as true legends. This is the axe throwing success story of Tommy Parnell. What started as a casual date night in 2022 turned into an unbelievable journey from nervous first-timer to a ranked pro competing in IATF and WATL leagues. His story shows how dedication, coaching, and a supportive community can turn anyone into an axe throwing champion.
He first walked through our doors going out on a date in 2022. A complete newcomer to throwing. Tommy had never held an axe before, let alone threw one at a target. Our incredible staff members, showed him the ropes and after his first throw stuck he was hooked. He was one of the worst throwers we’ve come through the doors. Even still, he had tons of fun with our staff. Eventually, he joined our Monday league. Week after week, he kept coming back.

From League Rookie to International Pro
Fast forward to 2024, and Tommy isn’t just throwing axes anymore – he’s a ranked pro! That’s right, the guy who nervously stepped onto the lanes just three years ago is now competing at an international professional level.
