What to Expect
From the moment you walk through the door, our goal is simple: help you feel comfortable, confident, and ready to have fun. Whether you’re throwing for the first time or introducing someone else to the sport, we’ll guide you every step of the way. If you’re wondering whether axe throwing is safe for beginners, we’ve got you covered.
1) Check in & Safety Briefing
We’ll verify your waiver is complete, take payment, get you oriented, review lane rules and throwing technique, and make sure you feel comfortable before you throw.
2) Hands-On Coaching
Our Axeperts walk you through grip, stance, and a simple throw that works, with real-time tips every step of the way. Before long, you’ll be sticking axes with confidence and ready for the games to begin.
3) Practice Throws & Games
You’ll get plenty of throws, then when you’re ready, each of our lanes are equiped with tablets and monitors for you to play fun and challenging games so your group stays engaged.
4) Celebrate the Sticks
When you land that first clean hit, you’ll know. We’ll help you get there. There’s nothing like the thunk of a well thrown object when it hits its target.

Challenge an Axepert
Some guests are happy just hitting the target. Others start looking down the lane at the person teaching them and think… “I bet I can beat you.” That’s where the Axepert Challenge begins. It’s one head-to-head game against one of our staff members. Win, and you take home Axe Play swag—and, more importantly, the right to tell everyone you beat the coach. Lose… and your picture definitely ends up on the Wall of Shame.
Hit the Money Shot
Think you’ve got one more great throw in you? For just $5, you’ll get one chance at our smallest target—and the smaller the target, the bigger the prize. Sink it, and you’ll put your name on the champion board and walk away with the current cash jackpot. Hit or miss, it’s one of those moments that gets the whole room watching.
Leave Your Mark
Before groups leave, many of them grab a marker and find an empty spot on the wall. Six years later, those signatures have become a timeline of birthdays, first dates, retirements, bachelor parties, military reunions, and nights people still talk about. Some guests come back years later just to find their names again.

When Maria and I opened Axe Play in 2020, our goal was simple. We wanted to build a place where people could laugh, spend time together, make memories, and hopefully make a living doing something we believed in.
What we didn’t expect was what our guests would teach us.
People started telling us how good they felt after throwing. Some called it stress relief. Others called it therapeutic. One guest even called it cathartic. At first, I didn’t think much of it. Then I started paying attention.
I’d watch someone walk through the door carrying the weight of a rough day, a tough week, or something they never even talked about. Then I’d watch them stick that first axe. I’d hear the laugh. I’d see the smile. And by the time they walked out the door, they looked different. Lighter.
That’s when I realized Axe Play had become more than a place to throw things.
Some people come because they’re feeling competitive. Some are celebrating. Some just want a fun night out with friends. Others need a place to blow off steam after a hard week. Whatever brings you through our doors, you’re welcome here.
